Presidents commissioning picture taken at Buckby locks

This is one of the oldest known photographs of President, taken at Buckby lock 11  on the Grand Junction canal, with Captain James Woodfield at the helm-  c.1910. Although many photographs of other steamers at this position are around, the similar photograph of President remained hidden for many years. This photograph was "discovered" by FoP during the first "replica" fly run in 1991. Read the story here,

The London & Birmingham Railway is just visible in the background. It was the competition from the railways that caused the canal companies to introduce "fly boats"
